BIO

Nat Meade (nacido en 1975, Greenfield, Massachusetts. Creció en Portland, Oregón) se centra en representar personajes elevados que denotan fragilidad. La escala de los cuadros es pequeña y poco heroica, pero las figuras que parecen estatuas, con sus barbas largas y bocas abiertas, parecen monumentales. Gafas, cigarrillos o collares humanizan las figuras y las vinculan al mundo terrenal. Meade trabaja cuidadosamente las superficies del lienzo con una pintura muy estratificada, raspada y escamada, cargada de color.

 

Meade ha expuesto su obra en exposiciones individuales y colectivas a nivel nacional e internacional. Recientemente ha montado una exposición individual en la Honey Ramka Gallery de Brooklyn, Nueva York. Su obra ha sido reseñada en publicaciones como Art Forum, The Boston Globe, Juxtapoz Magazine, Maake Magazine e Hyperallergic. Meade tiene un máster del Pratt Institute, en Brooklyn, Nueva York, y una licenciatura de la Universidad de Oregón, en Eugene. Asistió a la Skowhegan School for Painting and Sculpture 2009, al Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program en 2016, al Siena Art Institute en 2018, y asistirá a la James Castle House summer Residency en Boise, Idaho en el verano de 2021.
