WOODS

The title of L21 Gallery’s presentation at this year’s ARCO Madrid, “WOODS”, hints at Richard Woods (Chester, United Kingdom 1966), the artist represented by the gallery whose work cements the concept of the project. The title also refers to the main raw material used for the installation and design of the booth. Its architectural structure made from wooden battens cuts off different spaces, while allowing their interiors to be seen.

Richard Woods’ colourful doors, painted in such a way that the pattern accentuates the natural grain of the wood, connect the different areas with each other, where different works are on display by artists represented by the gallery such as Ian Waelder, Jordi Ribes, Vera Mota, Pixy Liao, Daisy Dodd-Noble, Joe Cheetham, Valerie Krause, Alejandro Leonhardt, Hunter Potter, Eunsae Lee, Fabio Viscogliosi, Edu Carrillo, Mira Makai, and artists collaborating in this project such as Etsu Egami, Henny Acloque, Álvaro Gil, Lydia Gifford or Jaime Hayon. On the exterior walls of the booth, visitors will be able to see recent works by Erika Hock, Matthew Feyld, Fátima de Juan and Marc Badia.
